In this paper the discussion associates the tango poet Enrique Santos Discépolo with Sartrean existentialism and it shows the deep Henrian meaning of his work. To that end, it intends to relate fundamental aspects of his poetry with cardinal notions of Michel Henry’s material phenomenology. Thus, it shows that Discepolo’s lyrics disclose: pure affectivity as the essence of life; its neutral affective tonality, in which feelings pass from one mode to another, indifferently; and the acosmic character of the subjectivity that endures it. In this, it returns to the brilliant deconstruction and rewriting of Discepolo’s work by the poet Leonidas Lamborghini.
