Abstract

ROLDAN, Alberto F.. Convergent Ethics as a metaprinciple elaborated by Ricardo Maliandi: A theological reading. Enfoques [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.1, pp.39-66. ISSN 1669-2721.

This article exhibits the proposal of convergent ethics elaborated by the Argentinian philosopher Ricardo Maliandi. Since this proposal is based on the fact the ethics implies conflicts that need to be appeased or overcome, the author offers a theological reading of Maliandi´s thesis, presenting conflict areas from Bible verses: prostitution versus faith, commandment/suspension of commandment, and individual/community. Then, the theoretical philosophical setting from which Ricardo Maliandi presents his proposal is looked into. Finally, Alberto F. Roldán detects the point in which convergent ethics and Christian theology may coincide: the phrónesis, a practical wisdom that allows the ethical agent to solve difficult and aporetic situations. Thereby, the author reflects on the possibilities of a mutual enhancement between convergent ethics and Christian ethics.

Keywords : Convergent Ethics; Conflicts; Theological Reading; Phrónesis.
