Abstract

SECCHI, Jeremías David; GARCIA, Gastón César  and  ARCURI, Carlos Rodolfo. Assess the physical fitness in school setting?: Concepts and discussions exhibited in the field of Physical Education and Science. Enfoques [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.1, pp.67-92. ISSN 1669-2721.

There are some points of discussion regarding fitness assessment in school settings since there are about 15 batteries to evaluate physical fitness in children and adolescents worldwide. This aspect is problematic for, in many cases, the results cannot be compared between individuals, schools, provinces or countries. The development of this work focused on addressing the following topics: (1) Understanding the concept of physical fitness and its evolution; (2) Why assess fitness levels in schools?; (3) What fitness test related to health should be selected?; (4) evaluation of the ALPHA-Fitness battery in Argentina.

Keywords : Fitness; Children; Adolescents; Physical Education; Field Test.
