Abstract

ROLDAN, Alberto F. The Incarnation of the Logos According to the Phenomenological Perspective of Michel Henry: From Gnosis to Arch-Gnosis. Enfoques [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.1, pp.47-68. ISSN 1669-2721.

In this article it is analyzed what constitutes the incarnation of the Logos from the phenomenological perspective of philosopher Michel Henry. It is highlighted the importance of flesh (sarx) from the colossal Johannine statement in the fourth Gospel: “the Word was made flesh”. To Henry, the inversion of the phenomenology consists of the movement of the thought that refers to a reality that precedes what is manifested: the self-giving of absolute Life. In refuting Gnosticism, Christianity becomes an Arch-Gnosis, since that knowledge obtained from the incarnate Logos is no longer a secret for a few initiates but it is open to everybody. That Arch-Gnosis turns into arch-joy produced in the giving of the Life of God. That way, the flesh of the Logos becomes the locus both of revelation (phainomenon) as well as that of redemption.

Keywords : Logos; Flesh; Life; Archi-gnosis.
