Abstract

JURI, Yamila Eliana. Theology and Natural Law in the Conception of the Sovereignty of Jean Bodin. Enfoques [online]. 2019, vol.31, n.2, pp.69-86. ISSN 1669-2721.

The article proposes the analysis of the thought of the French author Jean Bodin with regard to the nature of natural law, since he places it as a limit to power in his famous theory of sovereignty that marks the beginnings of the political theory of modernity. It also addresses the religious theme that permeates all his works and the voluntarist imprint reflected in his doctrine, in relation to the notion of absolute and relative power.

Keywords : Jean Bodin; Natural law; Sovereignty; Theology; Voluntarism.
