Abstract

This article analyzes, by means of a critical synthesis, the contributions of the interpretative and sociocritical paradigms to educational research based on the common interpretative source called hermeneutics by postmodernists; it confronts the quantitative paradigm with the qualitative one and gives reasons for the convenience of qualitative research in this social area and the need for its development.
