Abstract
GUTIERREZ DOMINGUEZ, Lisett María. Jóvenes, políticas de empleo y subjetividad: una mirada a los nuevos programas de inserción laboral para jóvenes cubanos a través del sentido del trabajo. Rev. argent. sociol. [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.11, pp.169-191. ISSN 1669-3248.
The current dynamics of youth's transition from education to employment reveal an international scenario characterized by the increase of youth aspirations and the decline of objective possibilities of fulfilling those aspirations. Considering that employment policies not always acknowledge this particular situation, the study analyzes those policies through the category of the meaning of work. This approach allows us to highlight how such policies foster the relationship between youth's work aspirations and the ways in which they experience their actual employment conditions. The research focuses on the meaning of work for young Cuban workers who participate in two new employment programs: social workers and art teachers. Both cases reveal harmonious and contradictory relations between the elements analyzed, thus illuminating the programs' successes and failures. Recommendations for improvement were based on the results of the research.
