Abstract

ARCE CORTES, Tania. Subcultura, contracultura, tribus urbanas y culturas juveniles: ¿homogenización o diferenciación?. Rev. argent. sociol. [online]. 2008, vol.6, n.11, pp.257-271. ISSN 1669-3248.

Since the emergence of the category "youth" in the 1960s that derived from World War II and "counterculture" groups, academic fields like psychology, sociology, and anthropology have offered different interpretations of why individuals gather in groups and the reasons behind their practices. This paper focuses on the sociological perspectives on the topic, their theories and history, as well as their main contributions and scope, in an attempt to understand the usefulness of classifying "counterculture" groups from an academic perspective.

Keywords : Subculture; Urban tribe; Counterculture; Youth culture; Youth.
