Abstract

CANSANELLO, Carlos O.. Portion and proportion: a femenine place in the political culture in Buenos Aires. Aljaba [online]. 2005, vol.9, pp.73-90. ISSN 1669-5704.

The purpose of this study is to give a history of the role of females in th politics after the Revolucion de Mayo. It involves the first part of the 19 century and begins with a brief reading of the memoirs of Mariquita Sanchez that serves as a connection to other research. Through the voices of the women in the agitated revolutionary days, when the different factious groups confronted each other, and the moral sermons. Our focus is to ask ourselves about the political rights that emerge and those that remain hidden in each moment, in each claim, and in each stirring speech. We intend to show that the itinerary of political rights given were not equal and that political rights were not always given together nor were these rights recognized simultaneously with civil rights. All these arguments, lead to the questioning of womens rights.
