Abstract

HERNANDEZ, Adriana  and  REYBET, Carmen. Body and curriculum: Discursive practices in the field of physical education. Aljaba [online]. 2005, vol.9, pp.91-103. ISSN 1669-5704.

The present work approaches physical education as a schooling space particularly significant in the production of the gendered subjectivity. From a Foucaultian perspective on discourse, as constitutive of social life, we use the term discursive practices in the sense that habilitates the recognition of the interrelation among ideas, the schooling institution and the specific technologies that produce life in schools. In this article we intend to make visible the articulation of discursive practices that structure experiences, classifications and distinctions of men and women. The category 'hidden curriculum' is re-signified as a dispositive articulating certain relations of knowledge and power. From a gender perspective, we try to understand the particular power effects on the bodies of girls and boys in the classes of physical education.

Keywords : Gender; Discursive practices; Curriculum; Body.
