Abstract

FERNANDEZ FRAILE, María Eugenia. History of the women in Spain: history of a conquest. Aljaba [online]. 2008, vol.12, pp.11-20. ISSN 1669-5704.

In this issue, we analyze historically the social, economic and political situation of the women in Spain. Along the history, the woman in Spain, has been excluded from the public areas and has been isolated of the forums of discussion; as a consequence, she has been relegated to the family nucleus and her fundamental labor was to transmit the traditional moral values and to educate the children. This situation has prevailed in Spain up to the democracy: From then (1978), a series of changes have been happening that transform the situation of the women with their participation in the public sphere (work, politics, art, mass media) and with a change into the model of familiar relationships.

Keywords : Feminism; History of the women; Feminist movement.
