Veterinary anesthesiology has become very important in professional practice, it is highly required to perform numerous surgical procedures, one of them being the ovary hys terectomy. The objective of the present research was to compare the effects of two anesthetic protocols during canine ovary hysterectomy in two veterinary clinics in the city of Curuguaty in 2021, through an experimental study with two groups of 15 randomly distributed canine females, where the protocol 1 consisted of Xylazine + Ketamine and protocol 2 in the admin- istration of Xylazine + Ketamine + Diazepam. The variables evaluated consisted of the heart rate, respiratory rate and body temperature of the patients. The data were loaded into an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed according to the Student’s T test at a 5% probability of error. No statistically significant differences were found for heart rate and body temperature of the canines. Protocol 2 (Xylazine + Ketamine + Diazepam) presented better results in terms of respiratory rate, duration of anesthetic action, and patient recovery time, with statistically significant differences at p<0.05. This research represents a great advance in obtain in useful in formation with in the practice of the veterinary profession in the area of the surgical clinic, its scope al- lows knowing and making a better use of the pharmacological elements studied.
