Abstract

QUINONEZ, María Gabriela. Monuments, commemorations and controversies about the past in Corrientes at the end of XIX Century. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2010, vol.9, n.1. ISSN 1669-9041.

The goal of this article is to make some progress in the analysis of the historic discourses and conmemorative actions developped in the Hinterland of Argentina at the end of XIX Century as part of the construction of the nationality that had placed in Buenos Aires. The conmemorative practices of this period couldn't escaped to the controversies that with different degrees of impact have been developing between history intellectuals, and hinted the coexistence of different views from the argentinian past that respond to diverses production contexts The case analyzed is from the Province of Corrientes, whose politic elite expected to use the past to legitimate itself and claimed the role played in the construction of the argentinian institutional order.
