Abstract

KILSTEIN, Andrés. Hybridisation between classical anti-Semitic myths and the new anti-Zionist preach: The record of the Arab League in Argentina between 1962-1964. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2012, vol.11, n.1. ISSN 1669-9041.

The present study attempts to answer the following question: at what point in Argentinean history the claims against zionism and positioning on Middle East conflict Stara to mix with an anti-Semitic discourse already settled among nationalistic right-winged sectors? For this purpose I examine the work of the Delegation of the Arab League for Latin America which, led by Hussein Triki, ran in Buenos Aires between years 1962 and 1964. I point out the activity of this entity in Argentina as being of the first records in which an anti-Zionist preach enables to articulate a number of operations of estigmatization and anti-Semitic myths which prior existed. According to this thinking, Jews show a double loyalty; provoke attacks against themsleves as a result of their attitude of self-segregation; with their network of organizations and financial provision they constitute States within States; they weaver plots through their undercover activity in the press, political parties and banks, and other myths that we show with the signature of the Arab League in the period covered by our research. The action of this entity had impact on Catholic nationalistic groups and right-winged Peronist factions.

Keywords : Anti-Semitism; Anti-Zionism; Arab League.
