Abstract

MARANGUELLO, Carla. Signify through natural elements: vegetable iconography in colonial andean architectural´s ornamentation. Rev. Esc. Hist. [online]. 2020, vol.19, n.1, pp.00-00. ISSN 1669-9041.

The late colonial churches of the southern Peruvian Chucuito´s province, present in the architectural ornamentation of their facades, natural elements, both from local and from other ecological floors. Through an interdisciplinary approach from the theory and history of art, we intend to highlight the role of nature and flowers in the andean world, and make an approach to species, to reflect on the introduction of these elements in a indoctrination space, where in addition to indigenous participation, there was the patronage of the Fathers of the Society of Jesus, which manifested a genuine interest in the american nature, linked to religious aspects.
