Abstract

GIL MARTIN, Francisco Javier. Tecnología y esfera pública en Jürgen Habermas. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2005, vol.2, n.5, pp.141-152. ISSN 1850-0013.

This work presents, in a schematic way, three different times in which Habermas took up a position on technology: the critique of technology as ideology, the examination of the technology connected with the systemic colonization of the lifeworld, and the recent normative argument facing the liberal eugenics. Throughout the article, these theoretical approaches are contextualized from a dual perspective: firstly, by reference to the normativity of rational action and, secondly, by reference to the functions of public sphere in the constitutional state.

Keywords : Habermas; Technology; Theory of action; Normativity; Public sphere.
