This paper focuses on the plans eEurope and i2010, considering them as governance actions of the European information society. Within this framework, the plans arisen from the Lisbon 2000 agenda -eEurope 2002 and eEurope 2005- are reviewed. It is presented the i2010 plan, which constitutes a major shift compared with the eEurope plans, and is intended to create a single European information space. A conceptual framework for depicting information society is also given.
