Abstract
YANEZ, Raiza M. and ZAVARCE, Carlos. Sustainable development, university and knowledgemanagement from a luhmannian perspective. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.17, pp.105-138. ISSN 1850-0013.
In response to the obvious social and environmental crisis that exists nowadays, both at a global and at a local level, this article aims at raising the construction of a new theoretical, methodological and epistemic perspective to guide and strengthen the scientific production in Venezuela's autonomous universities, according to the standards set by what is known as Sustainable Development (SD), and to contribute to a greater commitment to achieve collective well-being, inclusion, equity, environmental conservation and peace in the world, by use of Knowledge Management (GC). As a result, and inspired by the complexity theory and social systems of Nicklas Luhmann, this paper concludes that DS is not considered as a policy and research priority within Venezuelan autonomous universities. This leaves, as a result, a scattered amount of knowledge that is only of the disciplinary type, of a very short-term point of view and mostly related to the area of natural sciences.
