Abstract

BURBANO, Pedro Pablo  and  CARDONA, Martha Nubia. Bottlenecks in the regional endogenous development of Colombia from the perspective of science, technology and innovation. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2011, vol.6, n.17, pp.161-177. ISSN 1850-0013.

This paper aims to show the main obstacles to territorial endogenous development from the perspective of the Science, Technology and Innovation System (STI). Some of these obstacles are: a higher number of part-time professors (instead of full-time professors) in the university system, meager number of Ph. D professors working for the university and the production systems and an undetectable number of people doing Innovation and Development (I+D) in business and industry. These factors helped to produce a bottleneck that delayes the process of integral and sustainable development in many regions of Colombia.

Keywords : Innovation; Innovation system; Endogenous development; Research; Development and innovation; I+D+i.
