Abstract

CATOGGIO, Leandro. The hermeneutical structure of living systems and technical devices. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2011, vol.7, n.19, pp.123-129. ISSN 1850-0013.

The hermeneutic has a long tradition in the attempt of decoding texts to make them understandable. From Schleiermacher, the hermeneutic tasks are related to the attempt of describing the way in which the alien, the bizarre, is translated into something familiar to the form of the hermeneutical circle. The interpretation, in this way, is shown as the translation of one thing in another. This model of the interpretation and translation in the form of the hermeneutical circle is what will be applied to this work in a different sphere of texts: living systems and artefacts. For that reason, we will follow the work of Wolfgang Iser and use the notion of recursive spiral together with the cybernetics spiral as genders derived off the hermeneutical circle capables of explaining the interpretative dynamics of men in control of the environment.

Keywords : Hermeneutical circle; Living systems and artefacts; Wolfgang Iser; Recursive and cybernetics spiral.
