Abstract

VALLEJOS, Oscar; MATHARAN, Gabriel  and  MARICHAL, María Eugenia. The floods in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina, as seen from a STS perspective. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2014, vol.9, n.25, pp.147-160. ISSN 1850-0013.

The Santa Fe floods were not only a social problem, but also -and fundamentally- a knowledge one. The authors of this paper shed light on how, within the Faculty of Engineering and Water Sciences of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral, a disciplinary model was created to treat "water" as a problem, and how this model fell into crisis after the 2003 and 2007 floods. The authors understand that crisis indexes can be found in the following facts: the floods became a part of the governmental public agenda; the university, as a space for the generation of knowledge and professional training and as a State advisor, was socially inquired for its accountability; and the affected population not only demanded but also proposed their own cognitive solutions to this problem

Keywords : Flood; Knowledge problems; Disciplinary model.
