PALMA, Héctor. Origins, present and future of the philosophy of biology. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.28, pp.123-140. ISSN 1850-0013.

This paper examines, firstly, how the philosophy of biology emerged from discussions in the field of the philosophy of science and the developments that took place in the field of biology. Secondly, it discusses the differences between the philosophy of biology and the traditional philosophy of science, which was almost exclusively a philosophy of physics. Finally, this article reviews the main current debates developed within the philosophy of biology, particularly those related to the research on the conceptual puzzles of biology and to the study of the philosophical -but not strictly scientific- problems that have arisen within the field of biology.
