Abstract

NUNEZ JOVER, Jorge; ALONSO ALONSO, Lourdes  and  RAMIREZ VALDES, Grisel. The philosophy of science among us: evolution, institutionalization and knowledge flow in Cuba. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.28, pp.141-152. ISSN 1850-0013.

In this paper we present the evolution of the philosophy of science in Cuba. We show its interrelations with the sociopolitical and ideological context and the intellectual influences that have given it shape. We sustain that people dedicated to the philosophy of science have played an important role in emergent interdisciplinary fields like social studies of science and technology, bioethics and complexity, all of which have roles in the academic, cultural and social life of our country.

Keywords : Philosophy; Science; Marxism; Cuba.
