Abstract

OREGIONI, María Soledad. Social Aspects of Research Internationalization: A Proposed Approach. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.10, n.30, pp.199-229. ISSN 1850-0013.

The purpose of this article is to identify the social aspects around research internationalization in  different knowledge production areas, on the basis of an investigation of international connection activities of different research units in the University of La Plata (UNLP). First, we shed some light on quantitative work methodology weaknesses, and opted for a qualitative approach vis-a-vis international/ regional links. Later, we delved into the qualitative aspects of the different international linking modes, and on the basis of empiric observation, we proposed new analysis categories to describe the identified international links that contribute and drive research internationalization. Along those lines, we underscored the complexity of research unit linking dynamics, as the object of our study, regarding origin and means of international/regional links.

Keywords : Research internationalization; International cooperation; University; Science and technology.
