Abstract

SBARBATI NUDELMAN, Norma. The Urgent Need Of A Science Education Reform In Argentina. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.34, pp.161-178. ISSN 1850-0013.

In the near future, children and teenagers will be in charge of making decisions, promoting and reinforcing guidelines for a global sustainable development. In facing this pressing challenge, prestigious scientists, including several Nobel laureates, have strongly committed to a radical change in science education through the promotion of experimental-evidence-based education where the students build their own knowledge. With this approach, the student develops skills and competencies required in today’s labor market such as: creativity; critical thinking; communication; team work; evidence collection, recording and discussion; problem solving; debate; personal initiative; collaborative learning; solidarity; an emotional nature; a multi-tasking capacity; flexibility; and leadership. Given the universal nature of science, being fluent in it is invaluable in the search for a common language, in the building of a true and lasting peace and in creating a sustainable development for the world as a whole

Keywords : Science education; Education reform; Social promotion; Innovative skills in the labor market.
