Abstract
CRESPO QUINTERO, Francisco; URDANETA DURAN, Elsy and RAMOS, Miguel. “La mudanza del encanto”: uma Interpretação Pictórica das Lendas Andinas sobre o Crescimento dos Rios . Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.12, n.35, pp.229-242. ISSN 1850-0013.
La mudanza del encanto is a painting made by Venezuelan painter Salvador Valero that brings all together the magical and religious elements from popular perception about the floods of rivers. In the Venezuelan Andes the popular belief establishes that the commotion that occurs with the flood of the rivers is due to the incantation that inhabits the river, which makes the river move as it migrates with its belongings and its people. This paper aims to analyze how the artist expresses this belief through the plastic work embodied in the painting, approaching an interpretation of the symbolic elements that are represented in art and culture. We may conclude that “La mudanza del encanto” is an attempt to understand the circularity of creation: man is born from nature and is, himself, nature; life is born from water, but it also can disappear in it when it is not respected
