Abstract

EMILIOZZI, Sergio. The Influence of the Quality Rankings on Argentine Universities. Rev. iberoam. cienc. tecnol. soc. [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.37, pp.127-141. ISSN 1850-0013.

University rankings have been showing an incremental impact on a large part of the citizenry of both developing and developed countries. This impact has two well defined areas: firstly, the one that these rankings have on public opinion, setting an idea of quality and university within it; and secondly, the one that occurs within the universities themselves. With regard to the latter, the rankings could begin to condition the universities’ policies, which is why we understand it to be a performative discourse. This article proposes to investigate these effects, recognizing the heterogeneity of our system, with the objective of formulating a hypothesis about a tendency that tends to reach not a small part of the institutions of the Argentine university system
