Abstract

ZELLER, Mariana A; CUEVAS, Mauro  and  DEPINE, Ricardo A. Plasmonic effects in superlattices with metamaterials. An. AFA [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.1, pp.15-21. ISSN 0327-358X.

In this work we study the collective modes of a periodic AB multilayer (a superlattice), where Aisa conventional dielectric and B a magnetic metamaterial. We show that the inclusion of metamaterials can give collective excitations with dispersion characteristics impossible to obtain with conventional materials and that the coupling between surface plasmon polaritons (SPP’s) of adjacent layers results in very attractive plasmonic characteristics, as dispersion relations with allowed and forbidden bands.

Keywords : Surface polaritons; Metamaterials; Plasmonics; Collective modes; Photonic crystals.
