Abstract

GONZALEZ, R  and  SARTARELLI, A S. Rotating waves in a infinite annular tube. An. AFA [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.3, pp.121-123. ISSN 0327-358X.

Waves resulting from the perturbation of a solid body rotation flow in an infinite tube have a known mode structure and are associated to a Beltrami flow. In this paper, rotating waves in an annular infinite tube are studied . We show that the Beltrami flow structure is preserved and that as the distance between tubes is decreased , an oscillation mode represented in the plane k-σ, that coincides initially (for k > 0 and less than a limit k) with the mode corresponding to the external tube alone, is shifted for such a limit k, towards the neighboring sub-mode of the tube alone, resulting, globally for a given k, a kind of frequencies contraction, with regards to the tube alone.

Keywords : Rotating fluids; Kelvin waves; Beltrami flow.
