Abstract

BETTERA MARCAT, M. A; BLENGINO ALBRIEU, J. L; REGINATO, J. C  and  TARZIA, D. A. Validation of a model of simultaneous in take of water and nutrients. An. AFA [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.2, pp.37-40. ISSN 0327-358X.

In this work, is studied comparatively a unidimensional model of transport and simultaneous intake of nutrients and water by crop roots. The model is derived from the Barber-Cushman model with a mobile boundary modification (time-varying domain). In the equations of this model the transport of nutrients is coupled to the transport of water, which follows a model derived from the one-dimensional equation of Richards also with moving boundary. It is expected that when coupling the transports, differences will be appreciated in the nutrient intake due to a more realistic representation of the convective transport. This model was validated with data from experimental works estimating the nutrient intake and the input parameters required for the model. It was verified that the nutrient intakes simulated with the simultaneous model are closer to the experimentally estimated intakes, than the estimated with the model that only considers nutrient intake, under two conditions: i) when there is high availability of nutrients (addition of fertilizer) and ii) For highly mobile nutrients.

Keywords : Simultaneos nutrient and water intake; Mobile boundary; Non-linear equations.
