Abstract
LANDRISCINI, Maria Rosa; GALANTINI, Juan Alberto; DUVAL, Matías Ezequiel and IGLESIAS, Julio osvaldo. Changes in resistant organic fractions in soils of the pampean region. Cienc. suelo [online]. 2020, vol.38, n.2, pp.203-211. ISSN 1850-2067.
Knowing the susceptibility to degradation of soil organic material allows adopting agricultural management based on a better carbon balance. The aim of this work was to quantify the effect of different agricultural management on soil organic carbon (SOC) and its different fractions. Changes in organic fractions with different degree of recalcitrance (organic carbon associated with the mineral fraction, MOC and recalcitrant, ROC) and Recalcitrance Carbon Index (RCI) were evaluated. The soils were located in Bengolea, Monte Buey, Pergamino and Viale (Argentina), with good and bad practices and a natural one. Acid hydrolysis separated labile and recalcitrant fractions. The different sites showed statistical differences in both total carbon and all fractions. Agricultural practices reduced total carbon and MOC, without altering the ROC. The RCI showed lower values for natural soil and higher for rotations with predominance of soybeans. Acid hydrolysis would be an easy technique to carry out and estimate by chemical procedures the most difficult fraction to modify by agricultural management.
