Abstract

QUINTANILLA ROSAS, José Emanuel  and  GARCIA BENDEZU, Sady Javier. APPLICATION OF SUGARCANE BAGASSE AND VINASSE FOR RECLAIMING A SALINE-SODIC SOIL IN PERU. Cienc. suelo [online]. 2023, vol.41, n.2, pp.206-212. ISSN 1850-2067.

The effect of bagasse and vinasse -residues from sugarcane processing- on the properties of a saline-sodic soil was evaluated through a greenhouse experiment. Corresponding doses for each amendment were used to displace 100 and 200% of the exchangeable sodium. Bulk density (DA) was lower in soils with vinasse application while saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks), saturated extract electrical conductivity (CEes) and concentrations of sodium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride were higher in soils amended with bagasse. Sulfate concentration was lower in soils with vinasse, whereas the opposite occurred in the case of potassium.

Keywords : organic amendment; sugar industry; electrical conductivity.
