Abstract

KLEIDERMACHER, Gisele. Among Fraternities and Street Vending: A characterization of Senegalese immigration in Buenos Aires. Cuad. antropol. soc. [online]. 2013, n.38, pp.109-130. ISSN 1850-275X.

In this article I will analyze elements that contribute to characterize the population that moved from Senegal to Argentina from the mid 90s until today. This migration flow has specific traits that guide its particular place in society, which are not observed in other classical migrations such as the European country and Latin American (especially border) and will be analyzed from specific factors such as religion, cultural and labor that characterizes them. To carry out the study I have used a qualitative methodology based on participant observation and semi-structured interviews.

Keywords : Migration; Senegal; Hawking; Religion; Culture.
