Abstract

DELMONTE ALLASIA, Antonella. When care and love burst into a jeans factory:. Cuad. antropol. soc. [online]. 2022, n.55, pp.51-67.  Epub May 05, 2022. ISSN 1850-275X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34096/cas.i55.9798.

The article examines the links between work and childcare with the aim of analyzing, from an intersectional perspective, the power relations formed around care in a jeans factory, looking into the strategies and feelings involved in its organization. Our hypothesis suggests that care functions as a vector of social differentiation, and reinforces both the gender inequalities present in the heterosexual marriage bond and the intra-gender class inequalities among the women of the factory. We carried out a case study and adopted a historical-ethnographic approach focused on analyzing the actors’ meanings and practices t and on reconstructing the contexts with which they dialogue.

Keywords : Care; Work; Jeans factory; Feelings; Buenos Aires.
