Abstract

PERRIERE, Hernán. Production of knowledge about indigenous peoples and educational appropriations in a municipal historical museum (Bahía Blanca, Argentina). Cuad. antropol. soc. [online]. 2023, n.57, pp.57-74.  Epub May 01, 2023. ISSN 1850-275X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34096/cas.i57.11455.

The objective of this article is to present, analyze and problematize the knowledge that is produced in the Museum and Historical Archive of Bahía Blanca (MAHBB) referring to the indigenous peoples and the appropriations of heritage made by teachers and students during visits and later in high schools. This text is based on a review of my doctoral research (2014-2018) opportunity to study learning in museums and schools ethnographically. I analyze here the observations of the visits of two third-year classes from different high schools and the changes that occurred in the museum exhibition until the year 2018 when I conducted the interviews with the museum staff. With this research I intend to contribute to the field of educational anthropology by analyzing social and educational practices in a historical museum and the use, modification and recreation of heritage by museum staff.
