SOUL, M. Julia and VOGELMANN, Verónica. Productive Restructuring And Workers' Meanings: Transformations In The Meat And Steel Industries. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.1, pp.89-101. ISSN 1850-373X.
Labour relations and work process organization underwent important changes in Argentina during the past decade in the context of productive restructuring. In this article, the features that this process assumed in Argentinian steel and meat industries are analyzed, focusing on the industrial plants of Siderar and Swift in south Zárate, Puerto San Martín industrial region. The concrete development of the restructuring process is described, the differences and similarities between productive processes and organizational devices at both industrial plants are stressed, and, finally, meanings that workers attribute to the experiences of the restructuring processes are identified. As such, a series of contradictory positions adopted by workers in relation to management projects are pointed out. Their attitudes towards new management features are highlighted with the ideas of adaptation and getting used to as opposed to the attitude of implication or getting involved with asked for by enterprises directors.
