Abstract
MANGE, Emiliano; RAMOS VAN RAAP, Agustina and LEON, Diego Catriel. La arqueofauna del sitio Loma de los Muertos (departamento de General Conesa, Río Negro). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.2, pp.301-314. ISSN 1850-373X.
In this paper, the results of the analysis of faunistic remains from Loma de los Muertos site, General Conesa district, Río Negro province, Argentina, are presented. The record is varied and includes internal and external skeletal specimens, mollusc shells and eggshells. It is proposed that most of the material is of anthropic origin. Large animals such as guanaco (Lama guanicoe) and Pampean deer (Ozotoceros bezoarticus), and others of smaller size, were hunted in the vicinity of the site -in thelower valley and fluvio-palustrine environments- for human consumption. Both the similarities between this site and others from the region and contributions to the knowledge of the subsistence patterns of hunters-gatherers in this North Patagonian valley in the final late Holocene are discussed.
