Abstract

BAGALONI, Vanesa N. Arqueología en espacios fronterizos del sudeste bonaerense (siglo XIX): resultados de las primeras prospecciones. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.1, pp.5-22. ISSN 1850-373X.

In this article there are presented the first results of the archaeological surveys carried out in a micro region of southeastern Buenos Aires Interserrana area constituted by the locations of San Cayetano, located at the east of Tres Arroyos and the south of Gonzáles Cháves and Benito Juárez. The archeological information provided by wroten sources with the objective of distinguish the ocupation of the criollos are discussed, in order to contribute with new elements for understanding the dynamics of the border areas constituted by this micro region throughout the XIX century. In this sense, a general area characterization is made from the search of environmental, archaeological, ethnohistorical and historical records. Then 110 mensurations from Geodesy (Buenos Aires province) were analized which allowed us to visualize the potential archaeological study area and guided field work. By superficial recollections and polls 18 archaeological sites were detected between rural settlements and military installations, only seven were studied more in detail. This work constitutes the first systematic study of border settlements in this micro region in which we can see a big diversity of archaeological sites with different functions and characacteristics.
