Abstract

BARNA, Agustín. No hay como la palabra escrita para defender lo que uno hace: Usos de la producción documental en la gestión cotidiana de la niñez en el municipio de La Matanza. Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.1, pp.153-165. ISSN 1850-373X.

This paper explores the various dynamics that unfold around the documents produced daily by state agents, amid interventional devices, over children "with violated rights" in a township in the suburban area of Buenos Aires. Various records, several diagnoses and multiple reports are routinely written, among others. These documents can be interpreted as technologies to make children and their families legible and mappable, in the context of contemporary forms on the government of populations. However, we believe the exclusive focus on these technologies of social control can lead to oversimplifying the mediations which take place in the daily processes of childhood management operated by the state. In focusing on the interactional dimension of the policy on children, we can glimpse how the document production also reveals practices and meanings of state agents operating at the margins of the state, at the intersection between the moral imperatives of human rights focus and the everyday intervention practices in contexts of social inequality. The purpose of this article is to analyze, from an ethnographic perspective, the multiple -neither formalized nor visible- uses of the documents, understanding them as a unique productivity, which is built up daily in state branches intended for children management.

Keywords : Management of childhood; Children right´s; Production of documents; Ethnography oh the state.
