Abstract
HERMO, Darío; MAGNIN, Lucía; MOREIRA, Pilar and MEDEL, Santiago. Variabilidad y distribución de fuentes de materias primas líticas en el Macizo del Deseado (Santa Cruz, Argentina). Intersecciones antropol. [online]. 2015, vol.16, suppl.1, pp.87-100. ISSN 1850-373X.
In this article we complement the research on raw materials sources developed at La Primavera locality, Deseado Massiff (Santa Cruz, Argentina). In this sector, a wide proportion of its surface corresponds to geologic formations of volcanic origin rich in siliceous rocks. This result in difficulties to characterize the lithology of archaeological artifacts registered at the study area and to trace back the sources for the raw materials used. We present a panorama of known rock sources suitable for artifacts manufacture, as well as the different analysis techniques we have used. We conclude defining the future interdisciplinary work along with geologists, including the design of field surveys necessary to complete the regional lithic resource base knowledge, a petrologic and geochemical treatment for characterizing known sources, using geographic information systems (GIS) to manage diverse information resources.
