Archaeological investigations carried out along the Quinto River have made it possible to locate numerous potential lithic sources and quarry-workshops. This paper seeks to understand the role of the “La Falla quarry area” within the context of the regional lithic resources of the upper and middle portion of the river. Consequently, the latest data on the supply points with availability of raw materials suitable for carving are presented. Moreover, results obtained from one of the most extensive chalcedony quarries (La Falla 1) are used to understand technological processes related to the use of good quality rocks. The study enables the recognition of the implementation of a combination of technological strategies and the use of available lithic resources spatially limited to the middle basin. Activities related to lithic reduction and the manufacture and use of a variety of instruments have been identified. This research is part of the discussion of supply activities within the Sierras Centrales region and constitutes an important advance in knowledge of lithic technology use by groups that inhabited east-central San Luis.
