Abstract
VECCHI, Rodrigo; STOESSEL, Luciana and BORGES VAZ, Erika. Ocupaciones humanas en un ambiente lagunar del oeste del área Interserrana: Sitio Laguna del Indio. Intersecciones antropol. This paper presents the results of research carried out at the Laguna del Indio site (37° 25’ 33” S – 61° 55’ 18” W), district of Coronel Suárez, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. The stratigraphic site is located in the eastern sector of the homonymous lagoon. Excavations and the collection of surface materials recovered archaeofaunistic remains, lithic artifacts, and potsherds. Analysis of the materials and a set of radiocarbon dates indicate that the lagoon functioned as a space for short-term residential camps and the development of hunting practices during the middle and late Holocene. Current debates on consumption patterns, the supply of lithic resources, and artefactual variability are discussed.
