Abstract

Elaboration of summaries by students constitutes a recurrent and necessary discursive practice in the process of university education. This article develops an interdisciplinary didactic proposal of language and chemistry, in order to improve reading comprehension and text reformulation skills in the context of the Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Hídricas of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral. An adaptation of the gender pedagogy is carried out (Martin & Rose, 2003) that promotes learning in progressive stages, collaborative work and development of conscious linguistic skills, so that both teachers and students acquire and perfect comprehension and writing strategies by which they can assess stylistic quality of texts within the university classroom, implicit intentions, as well as different options of real and potential uses that our language provides.
