Abstract

In this paper we turn our attention to the teaching of Financial Mathematics in mathematical modelling activities developed by students of a discipline of Mathematics Financial in a course of Degree in Mathematics. The modelling activities met the specificities already identified in the literature to characterize the descriptive mathematical modelling and the prescriptive mathematical modelling and are discussed in relation to the developments for the teaching of concepts of Financial Mathematics and for Financial Education. The analytical process follows the guidelines of content analysis and leads to three categories related to mathematical modelling possibilities: the teaching of Financial Mathematics in descriptive modelling; the teaching of Financial Mathematics in prescriptive modelling; and mathematical modelling as a possibility to integrate Financial Education in the teaching of Financial Mathematics
