Abstract

BRAVO, Bettina; MONTERO, María; JUAREZ, Mabel  and  SOLARI, Franco. Teaching proposal for the development of engineering problem solving competencies in Physics classes. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.2, pp.1-17. ISSN 1850-6666.

In order to contribute to developing the competence of solving engineering problems and, at the same time, favor the understanding of the concepts, models, laws and theories related to Traditional Mechanics, a teaching proposal was designed and implemented in the Physics I subject at Facultad de Ingeniería de la Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. The innovation consisted of incorporating problems with similar characteristics to those that engineers usually face in the field of their profession, so the students will be able to use the concepts and laws of Physics and experiment in solving the situations posed.

To evaluate the proposal, in relation to learning outcomes and the level of development of problem solving skill achieved by students, a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory and interpretive research study was carried out.

In this work, the engineering problems are described and the resultant data by the students' productions and by the communication forums of the Virtual Classroom, where students and the teacher in charge interacted during the process.

The results obtained allowed characterizing models for solving engineering problems and inferring the level of development reached by each of the groups of students.
