Abstract

GAZZOLA, María Paz. School math problems and the possibility for teachers to transform them into models. Rev. electrón. investig. educ. cienc. [online]. 2022, vol.17, n.1, pp.13-21. ISSN 1850-6666.  http://dx.doi.org/10.54343/reiec.v17i1.294.

This paper presents the results of a research carried out in an on-line course on Didactics of Mathematics, which belongs to the Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education (LEM) of the National University of the Center of the Province of Buenos Aires. During this course, the Anthropological Theory of Didactics is studied and, according to it, changes in teaching are promoted. In this context, we propose to 35 teachers in service at the secondary level that they solve certain school mathematics problems from the perspective of modeling. Although these teachers have the initiative to make changes in their teaching, the results show their difficulties with modeling because this activity is alien to normal school practices.
