This article presents the initial adaptive learning experience with university students, following the assessment principles aimed at learning. The proposal considers the customization of self-assessment tests, according to the predominant learning styles, in a virtual learning environment (VLE). The following activities were carried out: an examination of the student's profile and his conceptual basis, definition of customized tests and evaluation of results. The project is developed with an approach based on processes to improve continuously. The results show an improvement in the students' achievement and the analysis of the process helps the professors adjust the pedagogical design.
