Abstract

MOSQUERA, Bruno. Cueva Maripe site geoarchaeology, Deseado Massif, Santa Cruz province, Argentina. Comechingonia [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.1, pp.155-182. ISSN 1851-0027.

This paper develops the geoarchaeological study of the Cueva Maripe site, Deseado Massif, Argentinean Patagonia. The aim of this paper is to analyze the genesis of sedimentary deposits and correlate the two chambers excavated in the site. The results allowed us to recognize depositional and post-depositional processes that influence differentially in both chambers of the site. These processes affected the resolution and integrity of the archaeological record and the human use of internal space of the cave.

Keywords : Geoarchaeology; Caves; Patagonia; Sedimentary deposits; Stratigraphy in caves.
