Abstract

AUGIER¹, Julián Patricio Gómez  and  CARIA², Mario Alejandro. MULTITEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF PREHISPANIC SPACE OCCUPATION WAYS INTHE WESTERN SECTOR OF THE CALCHAQUÍES SUMMITS, PROVINCE OF TUCUMÁN (ARGENTINA). Comechingonia [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.3, pp.120-129. ISSN 1851-0027.

An analysis of the different forms of occupation of the pre-Hispanic space for the Archaic, Formative and Late periods in the western sector of the CumbresCalchaquíes (Tucumán, Argentina) is presented. This analysis is performed from a geoarchaeological perspective, mainly considering the geomorphological aspects integrated into a paleoenvironmental framework previously established for the area. This approach allows visualizing and characterizing on a regional scale the different trends in the occupation patterns of the pre-Hispanic space over time in the area. To do this, distribution maps are presented taking into account the landscape units, the functionality and chronology of the sites. Finally, the variations in the mobility of human groups for the area in the considered time ranges are discussed, according to the identified spatial patterns.

Keywords : geoarchaeology; space occupation; Cumbres Calchaquíes.
