Abstract

The following work addressed the bird-human relationship in Antofagasta de la Sierra. Materials recovered in archaeological excavations from differentsites in the study area were taken into account, and interviews were carried out with residents who inhabit areas of the fertile plain, lagoon, river and pampas to approach human practices that involve knowledge and interaction with birds both in the present as in the past. The permanence over time of some ways of relating to birds and cohabiting with them is emphasized. We consider that this is linked to a particular form of ontology and constitution of life experiences. Approaching it implies an effort of reflection and constant review of the approach that is frequently carried out from Argentine zooarchaeology to the relationships between humans and beings more than humans.
